Mike Candrea added as Italian Softball Olympic Team special advisor

The University of Arizona head coach helped the US win gold and silver Olympic medals in 2004 and 2008.

The Italian Baseball Softball Federation (FIBS - Federazione Italiana Baseball Softball) has announced the addition of Mike Candrea as a special advisor for the Italian National Softball Team, in preparation for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and the European Softball Championship on home soil.

“I am very excited to work with the Italian National Team in their preparation for the European Championship and ultimately their journey to Tokyo and participation in the Olympic Games,” said Candrea, who has steered the University of Arizona softball program since 1986 and holds the NCAA all-time records in wins and titles. “This is a great opportunity to give back to the game that has been so good to me over the past 40 years and also pay tribute to my Italian heritage and their former National Team coach, Enrico Obletter, who passed away suddenly.”
