Botswana 3-5 Mexico

Mexico defeated Botswana 5-3 in the first game of the day in Havlickuv Brod.

Marco Antonio Gonzalez hit a monster 3-run homer in the first inning to plate Daniel Durazo and Alan Osuna to take a 4-run lead. Early in the inning, Lenny Villalvazo scored on a bad throw by catcher Thabiso Radithobane after a dropped third strike.

Australia 11-0 South Africa

Adam Folkard and Layton Reid combined for a six-inning no-hitter as Australia clinched an 11-0 victory over South Africa, in six innings, to improve its record to 4-1. After three scoreless innings Australia’s offensive. Hayden Mathews homered twice for the winners.

Australia moves to 4-1 in Group B while South Africa is now 0-5.

Venezuela 1-2 Canada

A 2-run homer by Jason Hill in the bottom of the second inning was all the offense Canada needed to win a key match against Venezuela in Group B, in the fight for the top spot of the standings. Devon McCullough went the distance for Canada allowing only 4 hits and 1 run, with 13 strikeouts. Canada is now the only team undefeated in Group B.

Cuba 2-3 Argentina

Argentina scored three runs in the first two innings of play to clinch an important victory, 3-2, over Cuba. The Argentine team improves to 4-1 in the second place of Group A, in a great position for the last two days of the round robin. Cuba is now 3-2.

New Zealand 1-5 Japan

Japan claimed a pivotal win today in Havlickuv Brod, defeating the reigning world champions New Zealand, 5-1, and is the only undefeated in Group A. Japan had a solid overall performance. Reo Koyama went the distance and claim the win for Japan. The starter threw a total of 131 pitches and allowed 5 hits and 1 run, with 7 strikeouts and 5 walks.

United States is back over .500 in Group A after a 7-0, five innings victory over Singapore. USA improved to 3-2 and tomorrow will play Denmark in a key game for the playoffs race.

Netherlands 1-8 Denmark

Denmark claimed today the European duel against Netherlands, 8-1, in five innings and moved to 2-3 in Group B. Kim Hansen pitched the complete game with 3 hits, 8 strikeouts and 1 run. Tomorrow Denmark will face the United States in a game that could define the destiny of both teams in the hunt for the playoffs.

Czech Republic 4-1 Philippines

Czech Republic defeated Philippines, 4-1, in the last contest today at Hippos Arena. Jiri Nezbeda hit a 2-run shot in the seventh.

Jaroslav Brenik claimed the win in 4 innings of work (3H, 1 R, 1 BB, 4 k) and Michal Holobradek closed the door the last three innings with no hits allowed. Leo Barredo lost for Philippines.
