National Team stars fill MLB postseason rosters

It's no surprise that many of the players in the MLB postseason have played for their respective national teams, which feature the best players in their countries.

Players who have played for their respective national teams have a strong presence on Major League Baseball (MLB) postseason rosters.

USA Baseball boasts an astounding 55 national team alumni in the postseason.

USA National Team alumni include Tokyo 2020 Olympic silver medalists Shane Baz and David Robertson. Both pitchers are on the Tampa Bay Rays roster.

Right-handed pitcher Tanner Houck, slugging first baseman Bobby Dalbec (Boston Red Sox), and right-hander JP Feyereisen (Tampa Bay Rays) participated in the WBSC Premier12 2019.

First baseman Andrew Vaughn (Chicago White Sox) also played in the Premier12 2019. He was a member of the US U-15 National Team in 2013 and appeared on the Collegiate roster in 2017 and 2018.

Houston Astros star third baseman Alex Bregman has also played for the US multiple times. He was part of the U-16 (2010), U-11 (2011), Collegiate (2013, 2014) and professional National Teams (World Baseball Classic 2017).

Relief pitcher Josh Hader (Milwaukee Brewers) played in the WBSC Premier12 2015.

Catcher Travis d'Arnaud, left-handed pitcher Drew Smily (Atlanta Braves), represented the US at the Baseball World Cup 2011. Smily was also on the World Baseball Classic 2017 roster.

Veteran infielder Evan Longoria helped the United States win the Baseball World Cup 2007.

USA Baseball - MLB Postseason

Sluggers Yuli Gurriel (Houston Astros), Luis Robert, Jose Abreu (Chicago White Sox) represented Cuba internationally. Gurriel helped Cuba win an Olympic gold medal in 2004 and a silver medal in 2008. Abreu played for Cuba at the Baseball World Cup in 2011. Robert participated in the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2011 and the U-18 World Cup 2015.

Left-handed pitcher Julio Urias, who helped the Los Angeles Dodgers win the 2020 World Series, has represented Mexico in the U-16 Baseball World Cup 2011.
