Netherlands, Germany to close women’s softball exhibition series in Enschede

The two neighbouring countries have already played four games and will complete the six-game WBSC-sanctioned series on Sunday, 20 September.

World No. 9 the Netherlands will host No. 32 Germany in the third and final leg of the WBSC-sanctioned friendly series. They will play the fifth and sixth games of the series on Sunday, 20 September, in Enschede, at 12:30 and 14:30 local time. The games will be available to watch live via Softbaldino.

The Netherlands won the first four games of the series. The first two were played on 12 July in Wesseling, Germany, and the orange squad won them by scores of 12-2 and 9-1. In the second leg of the series the European champions blanked Germany, 7-0 and 10-0, in Enschede. 

Germany nominated 16 players for games five and six of the series. Lioba Biswas, Milena Böttger, Lara Brockmeyer, Fiona Brosch, Hannah Held, Lisa Kälblein, Larissa Keller, Lee Lankhorst, Celina Mac Kenzie, Anne-Sophie Rathjen, Mara Sandner, Alexandra Stüwe, Katharina Szalay, Claudia Volkmann, Jennifer Weil and Noemi Weyel.

The Netherlands named a 15-player roster: Brenda Beers, Lizzie Clarijs, Shakeena Croes, Riangela Flanegin, Onaisha Franka, Wies Ligtvoet, Marjolein Merkx, Dinet Oosting, Rebecca Soumeru, Jessie van Aalst, Maxime van Dalen, Cindy van der Zanden, Marielle Vleugels, Britt Vonk and Laura Wissink.

Both nations are preparing for next year's European Women's Softball Championship, which is set for 4-10 July in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy.
