It's Netherlands' fourth European Baseball Championship in a row. Italy shut out Spain, 2-0, to win the bronze on home soil.

World No. 8 Netherlands topped No. 24 Israel, 9-4, in the European Baseball Championship 2021 final to claim their fourth consecutive continental crown and their 24th overall. A pair of late four-run innings secured the game for the orange squad, who ended the tournament undefeated.

Israel had a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh frame, but their bulpen couldn’t hold the led. A three-run homer off the bat of Roger Bernadina tied the game in the seventh, and moments later Sharlon Schoop singled in the go-ahead run.

One inning later, Netherlands secured the game with four more runs, with a two-run double by Schoop and a two-run homer by Dashenko Ricardo.

Israel jumped out in front with RBIs by Rob Paller and Jordan Petrushka in the fourth, and a two-run home run by Assaf Lowengart in the sixth.

In the bronze medal game, Italy scored twice in the seventh to beat Spain, 2-0, despite being outhit 10-6 by the Iberian team.

The top European baseball event was played in the Piemonte region, northwestern Italy, with the Old Continent’s top 16 baseball nations.
