New WBSC street discipline Baseball5 to be introduced in Tunisia

The Tunisian Baseball Softball Federation (Federation Tunisienne de Baseball et Softball) presented the Tunisian summer Baseball5 program, a two-stage initiative to introduce the new WBSC urban discipline in their country.

The first stage is the introduction of Baseball5 in Tunisia through youth tourism in the Training, Vacation and Camping Center Rimel – Bizerte. This project will affect not only the city of Bizerte but that of 23 governorates through about 300 young people who will participate at the tournament. It’s being held in three different periods: 1-6 July; 7-12 July; and 13-18 July.

Each six-day period is composed of 103 participants from 8 different regions of Tunisia, which allows us to form 2 regional teams. The first 4 days will be devoted to the initiation to the game, the last days will be closed with a tournament of 16 teams (2 per region).

The second stage, called Tunis, will be held at Sport complex El Menzah-Tunis, in two special occasions: the National Day of the Republic, on 25 July, with 8 mixed teams; and the National Day of Women, on 13 August, with 6 girls teams.

The final goal of the program is to set the bases to organize a Baseball5 tournament in November.
