New Youth Women's Baseball5 Championship launched in Palestine

The new five-on-five U-16 youth baseball5 tournament is reflective of the popularity of Baseball5 in Palestine.

Beit Hanoun Al-Ahly defeated Al-Shati Beach Services, 17-15, in the final of the the Palestine Women's Junior Baseball5 Championship.

The five-on-five U-16 youth tournament, a new event launched by the Palestinian Baseball Softball Federation (PBSF), opened on 13 February and involved six teams of the Gaza and North governorates. A total of 48 young athletes were involved in the competition.

The final was played on 27 February in the presence of PBSF President Ahmad Tafesh.

Baseball5 has given Palestine -- and other places where traditional baseball/softball has yet to see major growth -- a powerful tool to introduce the sport in the country, with the PBSF having previously staged successful baseball5 championships in the men's and women's senior levels.
