Nicaragua defeated, 2-0, the Dominican Republic in the final played in San Pedro Sulas, Honduras, and won the U-10 Pan American Baseball Championship for the third time in a row.
Nicaragua scored the winning runs in the fourth and escaped a bases loaded jam in the sixth.
Leyman Hernandez was the winning pitcher, while Juan Diego Holmann earned the save.
Nicaragua finished the tournament with a perfect 7-0 record and outscored the opponents 64-3. Nicaragua defeated Dominican Republic, 11-1; Honduras, 13-0; Guatemala, 17-0; Brasil 5-0; El Salvador, 11-1 in group play. In the semi final the Pan American Champions beat, 5-1, Hounduras in the semi final and went on to beat the Dominican Republic in the Championship Game.
Nicaragua was managed by Angélica Ramirez, who became in 2017 the first ever woman to win a Pan American tournament for Nicaragua.
