No. 7 Canada moves to 2-0 with shutout of No. 9 Puerto Rico

TAICHUNG, Taiwan — Canada used a trio of pitchers and a 2-run home run by Tyler O’Neill in the seventh inning to win a tight contest against Puerto Rico Wednesday night.

TAICHUNG, Taiwan — Canada used a trio of pitchers and a 2-run home run by Tyler O’Neill in the seventh inning to win a tight contest against Puerto Rico Wednesday night.

The win places the Canadian National Team on top of Group A in the Opening Round of the 2015 WBSC Premier12.

Canada starting pitcher Scott Diamond went five scoreless innings and Puerto Rico starter Luis Cintrón countered with six shutout innings.

The only runs of the game came off the bat of O’Neill in the 7th.

Phillippe Aumont pitched 2.3 innings to get the win for Canada.
