Upon learning of the passing of Mr. Michael Weiner, Executive Director of Major League Baseball Players Association (MLPBA), WBSC-co President Riccardo Fraccari issued the following statement:
“The World Baseball Softball Confederation is very saddened to learn of the loss of Michael Weiner.
“Mr. Weiner was a gentleman and true professional whose mindful and personal approach, in his distinguished service to the athletes he represented, gained him the trust, respect and admiration of his colleagues and all those who had the fortune to know him. He was an inspirational person and a great man of understanding.
“On behalf of the entire World Baseball Softball Confederation, I express my deepest sympathies to Mr. Weiner’s family, friends, colleagues and to all those to have been touched by him.”
