Olympic bronze medallist Julio Rodriguez named MLB Player of the Week

J-Rod appeared in six games for the Dominican Republic at Tokyo 2020, helping them to an historic third place.

Major League Baseball (MLB) named Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist Julio Rodriguez the American League Player of the Week. Matt McLain was named the National League Player of the Week.

J-Rod has appeared in 53 of 55 Seattle Mariners games in the 2023 season, going 53-for-220, a .241 batting average, with 10 home runs and 31 RBIs.

Rodriguez, the reigning Rookie of the Year, also earned Player of the Week honours in July 2022. He went 145-for-511, a .284 batting average, with 28 home runs and 75 RBIs in his first MLB season.

Rodriguez helped the Dominican Republic win an historic bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. He started all six games and went 2-for-4 in the bronze-medal game against Korea.
