After a break for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the Japanese Softball League (JSL) opened the second half of the season this past weekend, with a total of 19 Olympians on the field, including Japan’s National Softball Team's 15 gold medal winners.

A total of four games were played across the weekend, including a come-from-behind victory by two-time defending champions Bic Camera Takasaki Queen over Honda Reverta, 5-2. Toyota Red Terriers defeated Shinning Vega, 6-0; Brave Bearies topped Iyo Bank Vertz 4-3, and Hitachi Sundiva edged Shinogi Softball, 5-0.

Bic Camera Takasaki Queen leads the standings with a 9-2 record, followed by Toyota Red Terriers and Hitachi Sundiva (8-4). The top five in the regular season standings will advance to the 2021 JSL finals, to be held on 6 and 7 November, at Fukushima Azuma Baseball Stadium, which hosted the first six games of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Softball event.

Starting on 11 September, the JSL will stage special ceremonies to recognize the 19 Olympians in the league.
