Pakistan shuts out Afghanistan on 2nd Day of West Asia Baseball Cup

LAHORE, March 24: A grand slam hit by Umair Bhatti was the significant performance in Pakistan another convincing 18-0 win in the 10th West-Asia Baseball Cup against Afghanistan at the Punjab Stadium here on Saturday.

LAHORE, March 24: A grand slam hit by Umair Bhatti was the significant performance in Pakistan another convincing 18-0 win in the 10th West-Asia Baseball Cup against Afghanistan at the Punjab Stadium here on Saturday.

Pakistan made an explosive start getting six runs in the first inning as their Arif Senior, Imtiaz Ali, Arshad Khan, Mohammad Asif, Iftikhar Ahmad all contributed one runs each, before Umair Bhatti earned the distinction of grand slam to make 6-0 lead of Pakistan.

In the second inning, Pakistan maintained their offensive game as while Afghanistan were failing to cope with the fine pitching of Pakistani pitchers Hafiz Usman and Ihsanullah, added five runs as Muhammad Arslan, Imtiaz Ali, Arshad, Farooq Khan and Asif all shared the scoring honours.

In the next inning, Pakistan collected five more runs one each through Muhammad Usman, Nasir Butt, Asif, Mussadiq Hanif and Imtiaz, who hit the home-run to increase the lead to 16-0.

The Pakistani batters, after establishing a big lead , showed complacency as they added one run each in the 4th and 5th inning. While Usman scored in the fourth inning, Asif made in the 5th inning to seal the fate of the match.

Overall, for Pakistan Asif remained top scorer with four runs, while Imtiaz contributed three runs. Arshad, Usman added two runs apiece. Iftikhar, Arif senior, Mussadiq Hanif, Nasir Butt, Umair Bhatti (grand slam), Farooq Khan and Arslan chipped in with one run each.Chief guest was Zardasht Shams Cultural Attache Embassy Of Islamic Republic Of Afghanistan
