He made the roster for the U-23 Baseball World Cup roster after representing his country in the U-12, U-15 and U-18 World Cups.

Panama's Julio Gonzalez is looking for his first WBSC Baseball World Cup medal at the upcoming WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup in Mexico.

The third-baseman has competed in the U-12 Baseball World Cup 2013 in Taiwan, the U-15 Baseball World Cup 2016 in Japan and the U-18 Baseball World Cup 2019 in Korea.

"The U-15 Baseball World Cup looked like the toughest competition to me," he told Tvmax-9.com. "We managed to finish fourth, thank God."

Panama finished fifth in the U-12 Baseball World Cup 2013 and ninth in the U-18 World Cup 2019.

Gonzalez is confident that Panama will compete at the highest level in Mexico.

"We won't need those long flights we had to get to Asia this time," he commented. "We'll get to the field more rested."

Gonzalez is ready to contribute: "I can play every position. If the manager wants me to pitch, I'll take the mound."

World No. 13 Panama will debut in the upcoming WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup against Colombia on 23 September in Hermosillo.

Panama will also face No. 2 Korea, No. 8 the Netherlands, No. 10 Venezuela and No. 14 Nicaragua in group play.
