The Warriors claimed the 3rd Taiwan Pro Women’s Softball League, winning the seventh game of the final series over the Eagles, 4-2, to clinch their first ever title. Czech pitcher Veronika Peckova shined in the last of the series, pitching the complete game.

Both teams arrived to the Taichung Wanshou Stadium with the series tied 2-2, with three possible games in front to end the season.

The Eagles took a 3-2 lead in the series, winning the first game of the day, 4-2, in nine innings. However, in the sixth game the Warriors tied the series again, with a 9-5 victory.

In the final game, Peckova took the ball for the Warriors, and the right hander pitched the complete game to guide her team to the win, by a score of 4-2.

The Eagles took the lead in the bottom of the second, 1-0; but then the Warriors came from behind scoring three runs in the bottom of the third inning, with a pair of 2-out RBI singles by Ching-Ping Shih (to tie the game) and Yi Su to take a 2-run lead. In the top of the fourth the Warriors added another run in the fourth with a single to right field.

In the top of the sixth frame the Eagles made it a two ball game with two consecutive wild pitches by Peckova; but the Czech righ-hander closed the door in the seventh with two strikeouts in a row to clinch the title. Peckova used 111 pitches to complete the game and claim the win, allowing only 3 hits.

This was the third edition of the Taiwanese softball league. The Taiwan Pro Women’s Softball League was launched in 2016 with four teams.
