Peru wins U-15 Women’s Softball South American Championship

Host team Peru defeated Brazil in the final of the V U-15 South American Championship 2019 by a score of 3-1 and was crowned champion for the first time in history. Peruvian pitcher Maria Jesus Pizarro was named MVP of the tournament.

The U-15 South American Championship 2019 concluded on Saturday, with the Bronze Medal Game and the final. Peru needed back to back wins in the last day of competition to seal the title. In the first game of the day, Peru beat Colombia, 5-1, and earned the right to face Brazil in the final. And finally, the host team prevailed over the defending champions and claimed its first-ever title.

A total of eight teams participated in the regional event, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala (guest), Peru Red and Peru White.

Just weeks ago Peru earned the Silver Medal in the first-ever U-12 Mixed Softball World Cup.
