PONY’s Board of Directors decided to expand the Palomino World Series format from an eight-team to a ten-team tournament. One of the two new automatic qualifying bids will go to the European Zone Champion.

“This is a significant step forward to provide additional opportunities for out members in Europe,” said Abraham Key, PONY Baseball and Softball President and CEO.

WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari commented: “WBSC welcomes PONY’s expansion of the Palomino World Series, which strongly reflects baseball’s growing number of elite players, in Europe and around the world. With committed WBSC members like PONY, baseball will continue to evolve in one of the world’s major global sports.”

PONY (Protect Our Nation’s Youth) was founded in 1951 and has 8 levels of play for baseball. Palomino is for players of the age bracket 18 and under.
The 2019 World Series will be played in Laredo, Texas.
