Premier12 All-World First Baseman Dalbec homers in first MLB game

After striking out in his first at bat, Dalbec connected with a fastball and launched it over the wall in right field in his second turn.

Bobby Dalbec, who played for the United States at the WBSC Premier12 2019 and was voted as the All-World Team first baseman, made a sparkling debut for the Major League Baseball (MLB) Boston Red Sox. The 25-year old infielder homered off reliever Javy Guerra in the third to collect his first MLB hit.

Dalbec struck out in his first at-bat. He led off the second inning and went down swinging at the sixth pitch, a curveball, by starter Austin Voth. He became more aggressive in his second opportunity, striking at every pitch he saw. He connected with a fastball and launched it over the wall in right field. He added a single in the sixth to finish his first MLB game at 2 for 4.

Robert Vernon Dalbec was born in Seattle, Washington. He attended the Legend High School in Parker, Colorado, and the University of Arizona.

The Boston Red Sox selected Dalbec in the fourth round of the 2016 MLB Draft. He signed for a $650,000 bonus. Dalbec combined 79 home runs over four Minor League Baseball (MiLB) seasons, including seven in 30 games at the Triple A level in 2019.
