Preview: Korea aiming to stay perfect against Chinese Taipei

Korea are one of three teams with a perfect record at the Premier12 ... Chinese Taipei will send talented Chang Yi to the mound for this game.

No. 3 ranked Korea (2-0) and no. 4 ranked Chinese Taipei (0-2) will battle from ZOZO Marine Stadium in Chiba, as the WBSC Premier12 Super Round continues.

Korea jumped out to an early lead in their Super Round opener against no. 2 ranked USA last night, going up 3-0 thanks to a Kim Jaehwan home run. From there, Korea's outstanding pitching and defence continued, en route to a 5-1 win. That win sees Korea's tournament record improve to 4-0.

Kim Kwanghyun was outstanding in his first start of the tournament, and will take the mound for Korea tonight. The left-hander allowed only one hit in six innings of work, striking out seven against Canada at the Gocheok Dome.

Despite another strong pitcher performance, Chinese Taipei struggled offensively against Mexico yesterday, dropping their Super Round opener 2-0. Chinese Taipei could only manage two baserunners in their last five innings at the plate, and today face a Korean pitching staff that has given up two earned runs in four games.

Exciting prospect Chang Yi will start for Chinese Taipei today, after an outstanding performance against Venezuela in the Opening Round. Chang struck out six and scattered four hits in seven scoreless innings.

First pitch from ZOZO Marine Stadium is scheduled for 19:00 JST.
