Puerto Rico Double-A League to open post season after celebrating All-Star Weekend

The zone semifinals are the second of six stages in the 2023 season. Team South won the Double-A All-Star Game and the Game of the Legends, while Team North prevailed in the inaugural U-23 All-Star Game.

After celebrating the Al-Star weekend, the Puerto Rico Double-A Superior League is ready to start its postseason with the zone semifinals on Friday, 26 May.

The Double-A teams are split into seven zones (North, South, Metro, Northwest, East, Southeast and Southwest). The zone semifinals are the second of six stages, will involve 32 teams and will qualify 16 to the zone finals.

The Pedro Montañez Stadium in Cayey hosted the All-Star weekend.

Team South shut out Team North, 9-0, in the Double-A All-Star Game. Kenneth Rivero went 2-for-2 with two runs batted in and earned MVP honours. Jonathan Reynoso won the Home Run Derby.

Team South included the best players of the Central, South, Southeast and East zones.

South defeated North, 7-3, in the third edition of the Game of the Legends, which gathered 40 of the best former players in Double-A history. Angel Guayabo Olmo earned MVP honours.

North beat South, 7-4, to win the inaugural U-23 All-Star Game. Jan Martinez earned MVP honours.
