Record 38-team Dominican U-12 National Baseball Championship to open on 25 March

"International competition starts at this age bracket, and we will have the chance to see the best of the best in our country," Dominican baseball leaders said.

The Dominican Baseball Federation (FEDOBE, Federación Dominicana de Béisbol) has announced that the first event of the 2021 season will be their U-12 National Championship.

During a presentation at the Ministry of Sports headquarters, FEDOBE President Juan Antonio Núñez Nepomuceno said that the event is scheduled from 25 to 28 March in the Duarte province, in the northeastern part of the island.

A total of 38 teams representing all the regions of the country will participate.

"It's going to be a great event," commented Núñez Nepomuceno. "We never had so many teams. International competition starts at this age bracket, and we will have the chance to see the best of the best in our country."

The FEDOBE president added: "The U-12 National Championship marks our return to the field after a one-year suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We will implement social distancing and strictly respect the protocol approved by the Ministry of Public Health."
