SEA Games baseball, softball finals set for Sunday
The Philippines will play the three gold-medal games of the regional multi-sports event. The host national teams will face Thailand in baseball, Indonesia in women’s softball, and Singapore in men’s softball

The 30th SEA Games baseball, softball competitions will come to an end on Sunday, with the three gold-medal games and the baseball bronze medal game. The Philippines will seek to clinch the three gold medals at The Villages, Clark, Pampanga, Philippines.

On Saturday, two baseball games completed the round robin and defined the four teams to play for the medals.

In the first match of the day, Singapore clinched fourth place in the opening round with a 9-1 victory over Cambodia and will play on Sunday for the bronze medal. Singapore ended the round robin with a 1-3 win-loss record, in fourth position. Cambodia finished fifth with 0-4 win-loss record.

The last game of the round robin saw Thailand take on Indonesia, with the ticket to the final on the line. And the Thai squad prevailed by a score of 6-4, to advance to the gold medal game.

On Sunday, Indonesia (2-2) and Singapore (1-3) will play for the bronze medal, while the Philippines (4-0) and Thailand (3-1) will battle for the SEA Games baseball gold medal.

The softball events saw bronze medal games completed on Saturday. In the women’s event, Malaysia took the lead in the first inning with one run, but then Indonesia rallied for five runs in the fourth to secure their ticket in the final, 5-1. On Sunday, the Philippines and Indonesia will play for the gold medal, while Malaysia finished with the bronze. It’s the first-ever medal for Malaysia.

Finally, in the men’s event, the Philippines defeated Indonesia, 9-0, and advanced to the gold-medal game. A five-run fifth inning secured the win for the host nation, that will play for the top prize against Singapore. Indonesia clinched the bronze medal.
