Softball Australia cancels 2021 Men’s National Championship
19/11/2020

After careful consideration and consultation with Member States, Softball Australia has cancelled the 2021 Australian Open Men’s National Softball Championship due to COVID-19.

Regional softball bodies under the Softball Australia umbrella expressed concern regarding the current COVID-19 outbreak and potential 14-day hotel quarantines, which led to the decision to cancel the national championship.

At this current time, Softball Australia has no plans to make adjustments to the remaining national championships and will look to make a decision regarding next April's junior national championships by the end of the year.

The next edition of the Softball Australia Open Men’s National Championship will be played in December 2021. The event will also serve as a showcase to select players for the Australian National Team that will compete in the next WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup, scheduled for 19-28 February 2022, in New Zealand.

Australia is currently No. 5 in the WBSC Men’s Softball World Rankings.
