Softball Canada to launch men’s development programme in 2021

The Development Program will cover pitching, catching, fielding, hitting, base running, fitness and mental performance.

Softball Canada has announced that their Junior Men’s National Team Coaching staff will be offering a virtual Development Program for young athletes born between 2004 to 2007. The programme was created to align the talent development path that raises the standard of softball skills in Canada and prepares athletes to compete at the Canadian Championships, Canada Games, and on the Junior Men’s and Men’s National Teams.

The Development Program will cover pitching, catching, fielding, hitting, base running, fitness and mental performance.

The programme will be begin on January 15th, 2021 with an introductory Zoom session with the Junior Men’s National Team coaching staff and participants and will continue until May 29th (20 weeks).

The Development Program package includes a fitness training program, positional skills and drills, hitting program, pitching program, Coach’s Eye account, Skills Shark account for Player Evaluations and Zoom sessions with Junior Men’s National Team coaching staff.

Canada, currently ranked fourth in the WBSC Men’s Softball World Rankings, is looking to rebound from a seventh place finish at the WBSC U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup 2020 in Palmerston North, New Zealand.
