Mark Quinn was named the skipper of the U-18 team for the next WBSC Softball World Cup.

Softball Canada has appointed Mark Quinn as the new head coach of the U-18 men’s softball national team programme for the next two years. Quinn served as Canada’s junior men’s national team coach for the last three WBSC softball world championships.

Quinn was a member of the Canadian staff during Jeff Ellsworth’s four-year tenure as junior team head coach. Canada claimed the bronze medal in Midland 2016, and then finished fourth place in Prince Albert 2018, on home soil. In 2020, in the only WBSC event of the year, Canada finished in seventh place at the WBSC U-18 Men's Softball World Cup in Palmerston North, New Zealand, tying the country’s worst result ever.

Quinn will work within the Junior Men’s programme in the pursuit of podium results at the 2021 WBSC Americas Qualifier and the 2022 WBSC U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup. The selection process of the complete coaching staff will continue in the next weeks.

In August, Ellsworth was named assistant coach of the Canadian senior national team and left a vacancy in the junior head coach position.
