Softball: European Masters Cup 2020 in Zagreb cancelled due to COVID-19

With this event, softball's full continental season has been called off in Europe due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Softball Europe announced the cancellation of the second edition of the over-35 European Masters Cup, scheduled from 28-31 October 2020 in Zagreb, Croatia. This event was the only one remaining on this year’s European calendar, since the rest of the competitions had previously been cancelled.

It’s the first time in history that Europe's entire annual international calendar has not been able to be played.

According to Softball Europe, the decision was necessary since Croatia is a red zone for many European countries, and a 14-day quarantine is often required.

The first edition of this event was held in 2019 in Sant Boi de Llobregat, Spain, both for men and women’s teams. Italia Women was the champion in the six-team female event; while Magos Tenerife claimed the title in the eight-squad male competition. A total of seven countries were represented in the event.
