Softball India national championships set for March

India's 42nd Senior National Softball Championships will be played from 20-24 March in Bharaptur, Rajasthan.

Softball is set to return in India with the announcement of the dates of the nation's 42nd Senior National Softball Championships. The men’s and women’s tournaments will be played from 20-24 March in Bharaptur, Rajasthan, and they will be India's first official softball competitions since the outbreak of COVID-19.

“Happy to announce, Softball is set to resume its events with its first championship post pandemic,” recently elected Softball India President Neetal Narang posted on her Twitter account. “Following all necessary Covid19 precautions, very confident and extremely positive that the championship will pave a path towards normalcy and prosperity for softball and Indian sports.”

It will be the first of 11 Softball India tournaments scheduled for 2021 in all categories.

*India's last Senior National Softball Championships were played in October 2019. Chhattisgarh state claimed their sixth men’s national title, while Maharashtra state took the championship in the women’s competition.

India is currently ranked 14th in the WBSC Men’s Softball World Rankings and 29th in the WBSC Women’s Softball World Rankings.
