Softball Peru President Vanessa Endo nominated for IOC Women and Sport Awards
Over the years, Endo has contributed to the development of softball in Peru, serving as an athlete, team delegate, event organizer and sports leader.
Softball Peru (FDPS - Federación Deportiva Peruana de Softbol) President Vanessa Endo has been nominated by her country’s National Olympic Committee for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Women and Sport Awards 2021.
Over the years, Endo has contributed to the development of the discipline of softball in Peru, serving a an athlete, team delegate, event organizer and sports leader. In addition to being the president of the FDPS, Endo also chairs the Peruvian Olympic Committee Women and Sports Commission.
In 2019, international baseball umpire from Chinese Taipei Ms Po Chun Liu was awarded the World Trophy, the highest distinction that the IOC bestows in the category, for her staunch advocacy for female empowerment through sport.
Each year, the IOC Women and Sport Awards are given to women, men or organisations who have made remarkable contributions to the development, encouragement and reinforcement of women and girls’ participation in sport.
Introduced in 2000, the award highlights role models and change agents in the pursuit of gender equality. Six trophies are distributed each year, one for each of the five continents and one at the world level. Over the awards' 20-year history, there have been 116 recipients from 65 different nations.
