South Africa, Zimbabwe advance from Zone South to Baseball Africa Cup

Lesotho withdrew from the three-team tournament, so both National Teams will advance to the Africa Cup, to be played from 1 to 5 March in Johannesburg, South Africa. The seeding will determine the schedule of the six-team tournament

Lesotho withdrew from the Africa Zone South Continental Qualifier, that was set to start on Saturday, 27 April, in Johannesburg, South Africa. The hosts and Zimbabwe thus qualify for the first Baseball Africa Cup, to be played in Johannesburg from 1 to 5 May.

South Africa beat Zimbabwe, 19-0, in the gane played on Monday, 29 April and will enter the Africa Cup as the number one seed out of  Africa’s Zone South. Zimbabwe will be number two seed.

Burkina Faso, Nigeria (Zone West), Uganda and Kenya (Zone East) are the other National Teams qualified for the Africa Cup.

The winner of the six-team tournament in Johannesburg will advance to the Europe-Africa Qualifier for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad Tokyo 2020, to be played in Parma and Bologna, Italy, from 18 to 22 September.
