Founded in 1990, the CBBS is the governing body responsible for the organization and administration of baseball and softball in the South American country.

The Brazilian Baseball and Softball Confederation (CBBS) is celebrating 30 years since its founding and has unveiled the newly created 30th anniversary logo. The special emblem consists of a “30” number, with the traditional CBBS logo inserted in the zero. The logo also displays the years: 1990-2020

Headquartered in São Paulo, the CBBS aims to develop and represent Brazilian baseball and softball responsibly, fostering projects and actions that include high performance, the training of new athletes and social inclusion. According to the organisation’s official numbers, the sport has more than 30,000 practitioners in the country and 120 teams spread across Brazil.

Currently Brazil is No. 21 in the WBSC Men’s Baseball World Rankings, No. 14 in the Women’s Softball World Rankings and No. 45 in the world in men’s softball.

In 30 years of history, a total of five Brazilian players have made it on a Major League Baseball (MLB) roster, including nine-year veteran Yan Gomes, the only current Brazilian-born big leaguer.

The Brazilian National Baseball Team was set to play in the qualifier for the 2021 World Baseball Classic, prior to the events postponement due to COVID-19.

The Brazilian Women’s National Softball Team played its only WBSC Women's Softball World Championship in 2016, finishing in 12th place.
