Sri Lanka National Knockout Baseball Championship concluded

Sri Lanka National Knockout Baseball Championship 2013 which was sponsored by Sri Lanka Telecom was concluded on the 16th Sunday at the Colombo University Grounds. Tournament was held for 04 days and 25 clubs took part in the competition. Sri Lanka Navy who took part in the tournament for the first time demonstrated their fighting skills when they fall downonly by 01 run to much experienced Ranabima Royal Team. Score read as 05 to 06 at the end of the match.

Sri Lanka National Knockout Baseball Championship 2013 which was sponsored by Sri Lanka Telecom was concluded on the 16th Sunday at the Colombo University Grounds. Tournament was held for 04 days and 25 clubs took part in the competition. Sri Lanka Navy who took part in the tournament for the first time demonstrated their fighting skills when they fall downonly by 01 run to much experienced Ranabima Royal Team. Score read as 05 to 06 at the end of the match.

Ranabima Royal ultimately finished as the champions of the tournament beating Old Royalists Baseball Club in front of a large gathering of spectators. Match for the third place was won by Maroons Baseball Club beating Sri Lanka Army.

Award ceremony was held soon after the finals and Mr.Kalinga Indatissa, the President of the Sri Lanka Baseball Association and Mr. Roshan Kaluarachchi, Chief Marketing Officer of Sri Lanka Telecom awarded the SLT Trophy to the Champions, RanabimaRoyal Baseball Club.

Presidents Council Kalinga Indatissa, President of SLABSA introduced Mr.Chandrashan Perera former Sri Lanka rugby wing three quarter, Coach and widely regarded fitness trainer to the teams and announced that Mr.Perera will take in charge of the fitness of the Sri Lanka Baseball squad once the players are selected. Mr. Chandrashan Perera who addressed the players highlighted the importance of playing under pressure in order to compete internationally and win games.

Sri Lanka Baseball Association is now headingtowards the newly introduced Sri Lanka Baseball Classics 2013 encounter, which will be contested among 06 teams consisting of the best players in the country.
