One week after the opening of the baseball season in Switzerland, the Swiss Baseball & Softball Federation (SBSF) will open the 2020 softball season with seven games to be played this weekend (20-21 June). The opening series of the Swiss Softball NL is set to be played on Saturday in Zurich, with two games between the Dulliken Truckstars and Zurich Challengers.
All seven teams will start the season playing a doubleheader this weekend. On Sunday, the Wittenbach Panthers will play in Bern against the home team, the Cardinals. And the Luzern Eagles will play host to the top two Swiss teams of 2019: the Therwil Flyers and the Zurich Barracudas.
The Zurich Barracudas are the reigning Swiss Softball NL national champions after recording a perfect 2019 season, posting a 29-0 spotless record.
Switzerland is currently 33rd in the WBSC Women’s Softball World Rankings.
