Taiwan softball league set to open, games live-streamed

The Taiwan Professional Women’s Softball League (TPWSL) will open the 2021 campaign with five participating teams.

The Taiwan Professional Women’s Softball League (TPWSL) will open its sixth season this weekend, with three games on Saturday and two more on Sunday. The opening weekend will be staged at Youth Park Stadium in Taipei City.

The first half of the TPWSL season will run from 24 April to 20 June, while the second part will be played from 31 July to 10 October.

All games will be broadcast by TV cable network Sportcast, and streamed through the TPWSL Facebook page and the league’s Youtube channel.

The 2021 season was presented during a press conference on 20 April, with players and head coaches of the five participating squads.

"Women's softball is an event that we have a better chance of winning in international competitions,” said TPWSL Chairman Chen Renbang. “The women's softball league is the seed for the development of softball. I hope everyone will continue to paying attention to women's softball and supporting the development of the league.”

Last year, the Eagles defeated the Wasps in game seven of the final series to clinch their third league title. Both teams will officially open the 2021 season on 24 April. For Game 2, the Bulldogs will face the Warriors, while the Tigers will make their debut in Game 3, against the Eagles.
