Taiwan Professional Women’s Softball League to open second half on 8 August

The TPWSL was the first softball league in the world to start the 2020 season after the coronavirus pandemic struck.

The second half of the 2020 Taiwan Professional Women’s Softball League (TPWSL) will open on 8 August with three games at Kaohsiung Fengxin Softball Field. The regular season will end on 11 October, following 40 total games scheduled for the second half. Fans will be able to watch TPWSL action through FOX Sports Taiwan, which also shows the games on Facebook Live.

The five-team TPWSL was the first professional softball league in the world to open the 2020 season. After the eight-week, 40-game first half of the season, the Lions and Hornets were locked in a first-place tie with 11-5 records, but the Lions were declared winners of the first-half due to the tie-break system.

For the first half of the season, some top foreign players participated in the TPWSL. Kelly Barnhill (USA) and Victoria Vidales (Mexico) played for the Lions, while Kaisey Carson (USA) pitched for the Hornets.

In addition to Kaohsiung and Taichung, the second half of the 2020 campaign will also be played at the Taipei Youth Park Stadium in mid-September.
