Toyota Red Terriers vs. Bic Camera Bee Queen in Japan Softball League semifinals; rematch of 2008 Olympians Abbott, Ueno

The top five teams in the regular season have advanced to the playoffs, which will be played from 7-8 November in Nagoya, Aichi.

The Japanese Softball League (JSL) regular season came to an end this past weekend with the Toyota Red Terriers, Bic Camera Bee Queen, Honda Reverta, Toyota Industries Shining Vega and Denso Bright Pegasus advancing to the JSL playoffs.

The Red Terriers have two of the best left-handed pitchers in the world: US legend Monica Abbott and youngster Japanese Nozomi Goto. They will face the defending champions Bee Queen in the semifinal, with veteran Yukiko Ueno as their ace. The clash of super stars will be on 7 November, 12:30 local time, with a spot in the final at stake. The loser will get another chance in the next day’s other semifinal.

Denso secured their playoffs appearance with a 1-0 win over SGH. They will open the playoffs against fourth-place Shining Vega.

Third-place Honda Reverta (7-4) will wait for the winner between Denso and Shining Vega. The winner of this game will face the loser of the Red Terriers and Bee Queen matchup.

The final of the 2020 JSL season will be played on Sunday, 8 November, at 1 p.m. local time.
