NABEUL, Tunisia – The Tunisia Baseball and Softball Federation (FTBS) hosted the national teams of Syria and Iraq for the inaugural Arabia Women’s Softball Championship 12-14 September.

Tunisia, the most experienced national team in the field, won the event defeating both nations comfortably.

Tunisia has been in the forefront of development in North Africa. In 2014, the FTBS hosted the first WBSC Congress. In 2015, they organised the streetball competition, a public event that was open to everybody and attracted a wave of young people to try the sport, as well as onlookers.

FTBS has planned initiatives aimed at increasing participation numbers and the popularity of the bat-and-ball sport nationally, by expanding the sport’s reach to population-dense urban settings, which could be replicated in other cities around Tunisia and Africa, as well.
