In addition, three legends were added to the Softball New Zealand Hall of Fame: June Fitzpatrick, Donny Hale and Thomas Makea.
Two-way player Tyneessha Houkamau was awarded with the New Zealand 2021 Softballer of the Year award, Softball New Zealand’s top recognition. In addition, three legends were added to the Softball New Zealand Hall of Fame: June Fitzpatrick, Donny Hale and Thomas Makea.
While playing for Auckland at the National Fastpitch Championship (NFC) Houkamau performed well with the bat and ball, helping the team reach the final. Although Auckland did not get the win, highlights from Tyneesha in the NFC final include her hitting triple digits (101kph) while on the mound and almost clearing the fence in one of her at-bats.
At club level, Tyneesha plays for a talented Otahuhu team that dominated the New Zealand club scene, going on to win their first Women’s Club National title in March.
