U-10 Pan-Am Youth Baseball Championship 2017 set to open in Mexico

Reynosa, Mexico–The U-10 Pan-Am Youth Baseball Championship is the only competition in sports that features National Teams in the U-10 (9-10 years-old) category.

The youngest age-category National Team competition in sports — the U-10 Pan-Am Youth Baseball Championship — will open Friday, 29 September, and will be played through Saturday, 6 October in Reynosa, Mexico.

Six nations will compete for the youth continental championship, including Brazil, Dominican Republic, host Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and Peru.

The international competition will begin with a single group (1×6), round-robin, that leads to the semi-finals and finals.

Last October, Nicaragua defeated Panama in the final to win the U-10 Pan-American Championship 2016.

The final results of this youth category competition (not a Baseball World Cup qualifier) will not impact the WBSC Baseball World Rankings Presented by ENEOS.

The Pan American Baseball Confederation (COPABE) WBSC-sanctioned continental championship is being organized in collaboration between the Instituto Del Deporte (Sports Institute) of the State of Tamaulipas and the Mexican Baseball Federation.
