U-18 Baseball World Cup: Panama’s manager Ponce counts on six pros

FEDEBEIS, the Baseball Federation of Panama, announced the 20-man roster that manager Dimàs Ponce will lead to the U-18 Baseball World Cup in Gijang, South Korea. It features six players under contract with MLB organizations

The Baseball Federation of Panama (FEDEBEIS, Federación Panameña de Béisbol) announced the 20-player roster that manager  Dimàs Ponce will lead to the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup.

World number 13 Panama can count on six players under contract with MLB organizations: pitchers Jorge Garcia and Marvin Brown (San Francisco Giants); infielders Adrián Montero and Jean Arnaez (Toronto Blue Jays); outfielders Luis Tello (Pittsburgh Pirates) and Benyamin Bailey (Chicago White Sox).
Israel Mendoza was named the pitcher of the year in the domestic youth league.
Infielder Noel Suarez represented Panama internationally in three different age brackets: U-12, U-15 and U-18.

The WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup will begin on Friday, 30 August, in Gijang, South Korea. Panama will compete in group B with Japan, USA, Chinese Taipei, South Africa and Spain.
