The USA defeated Japan, 1-0 to highlight super round Day 3 at the WBSC U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup. The defending World Champions are now the only undefeated team.
The USA scored in the first with one of the only two runners allowed by Japanese starter Imu Goto. Skylar Wallace was actually tagged for the out at home, but the run scored because of obstruction at third base.
Megan Faraimo won a spectacular pitching duel with Miu Goto.

Canada earned a key 5-3 victory against China at the end of an exciting game that will leave China with some regret about the three runners stranded with no one out and the game tied at two and about suffering the last out of the game at third. Canada’s Kendra Falby played a spectacular all-around game, scoring the first run, giving a clinic on how to run the bases and getting the last out on a perfect throw.

Australia beat Puerto Rico, 6-2, and remains a legitimate contender for a spot in the medal round.
Puerto Rico took an early lead against Georgia Hood, but the Aussie tied the game in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by designated player Ellie Marks and took the final lead in the top of the fifth, making the most of a defensive error.

The USA manufactured one more shut out as they beat Chinese Taipei, 7-0 in five innings.
Although Chinese Taipei played brave defence and tried to put pressure on the defending World Champions, there was never really a doubt about the final score. The USA took the lead in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly by Charla Echols and a home run by Jasmine Freed and never needed to look back.

Rebecca Jones, the second hitter in the bottom of the first, got things started with a triple in the gap to right centre and Canada went on to beat Australia, 7-0 in five in six innings.
Australia couldn’t collect a hit against two Canadian pitchers: Samantha Ryan and Madelyn Hickinbottom. Canada appears to be the third power of the tournament, behind USA and Japan.

Mexico capitalized on a defensive error in the bottom of the seventh to prevail, 1-0, against China at the end of a dramatic pitching duel.
Yeraldine Carrion posted a gem of a complete game, allowing only two hits and striking out 17 and deserved the win. Chai Yinan allowed five hits and struck out 11.
