WBC Qualifier in Florida scheduled for September

Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida will host one of four qualifying tournaments for the 2013 World Baseball Classic from September 19 to 23, 2012. Teams from France, Israel, South Africa and Spain will travel to the Sunshine State, hoping to qualify for the main event, which is scheduled to be held in spring of 2013.

Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida will host one of four qualifying tournaments for the 2013 World Baseball Classic from September 19 to 23, 2012. Teams from France, Israel, South Africa and Spain will travel to the Sunshine State, hoping to qualify for the main event, which is scheduled to be held in spring of 2013.

“This is a prestigious honor that Roger Dean Stadium has been chosen to hold a qualifying round,” said Roger Dean Stadium General Manager Mike Bauer. “We are very excited to host this premiere event and look forward to working with Major League Baseball and the four international teams. This is a premiere event for the Town of Jupiter and Palm Beach County.”

16 teams will participate in the qualifying round, expanding the WBC field to 28 teams overall. The other three WBC Qualifiers are played in Regensburg, Germany (September 20 to 24, 2012), Panama City and Taipei City (both in November 2012). The tournaments will be played in a double elimination format with the winners advancing to the 2013 World Baseball Classic.

Six-game tournament ticket packs and group plans for the WBC Qualifier in Jupiter will go on sale July 30th. Six-game tournament ticket packs will be $48, while group rates start at $8. Individual tickets will go on sale Monday, August 13th at 10 a.m. Individual tickets will be $10 for adults, $5 for children (12 and under).
