LAUSANNE, Switzerland — The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) today announced the awarding of broadcast rights for the WBSC Women’s Softball Europe/Africa Qualification Event for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad Tokyo 2020, which opens today in Utrecht, Netherlands.

The WBSC awarded the exclusive broadcast rights in the Czech Republic to national public television station, Czech TV.

In Italy, WBSC awarded broadcast rights to satellite giant Sky Italia.

In Spain, all the games from Utrecht will be available through the country’s biggest multisport streaming platform, La Liga Sports.

The Europe/Africa qualifier will be shown exclusively in Canada and the U.S. through online platform FloSports.

In a boost to global coverage and baseball/softball’s Olympic identity, the Olympic Channel will provide live-stream coverage of all 16 games.

“This is a great day for women’s sport and for the sport of softball,” said WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari. “These agreements with some of Europe’s leading networks and platforms not only tell us that women’s sport is a very attractive product but also that baseball and softball are continuing to penetrate into new markets beyond the traditional territories where our sport is popular, like Asia and across the Americas.”
