Hong Kong, Hong Kong – The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and the Hong Kong Baseball Association (HKBA) held the first Baseball5 seminar in the country last Friday 8 June.
During two distinct sessions, the first for interested general public the second for baseball coaches, over 20 people learned about the new format from the presentations given by the WBSC official, tried basic training drills and played the game.
The Hong Kong Baseball Association witnessed a strong interest from the school instructors present at the seminar and is looking to implement Baseball5 in the schools as a way to introduce the basics of Baseball/Softball to the youth of the county.
Due to the limited space available, Baseball5 is particularly suitable for boosting mass participation in Baseball/Softball in Hong Kong and generally highly populated urban areas.
The seminar in Hong Kong follow those held in Prague, Mexico, Guatemala, as of now in little less than a month the WBSC has officially introduced Baseball5 to over 250 people from more than 20 countries.
