WBSC is helping softball to keep growing around the world, expanding its already global footprint on every corner of the planet. As a part of its Development Programme, in October 2017 the WBSC sent to Kenya 20 complete softball kits to assist the improvement of the sport in this country, benefiting hundreds of players in the country, whose evolved level of playing required better equipment for training and competition.

Each kit carried 12 balls, 4 bats, 4 batting helmets, 12 gloves, 4 drop bases and a catcher gear set. The kits were distributed for the Softball Federation of Kenya among their National Teams and the squads playing the Kenyan National League. Kenya Women’s National Team used the kits on December in Mwanza, Tanzania, during the East Africa Championship.

One of the priorities of the World Baseball Softball Confederation is the development of baseball and softball at all levels. In order to achieve this goal, WBSC focus on specific areas that are considered essential for the future of our two disciplines.

In 2017 WBSC organized the African Summit to review and best harness baseball and softball’s  increasing participation rates and popularity across the African continent.
