WBSC First Vice President Beatrice Allen is the new president of the Gambia Olympic Committee

"I'm excited about having the opportunity to help grow Gambia's stature in the international sporting world by improving the sharing of knowledge and expertise," she commented.

The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) elected Beatrice Allen as their new president on Saturday, 27 November.

Allen, 71, is serving as WBSC First Vice President and chairing the Diversity and Inclusivity Commission.

Allen received 25 votes and defeated King Colley, who collected 17 votes.

"It's a great honour to be elected president of the National Olympic Committee of Gambia," commented Allen, "and I am looking forward to continuing the great work that has been achieved for sport in our country and to inspire women and children to be active and participate in sport, especially with the Youth Olympic Games taking place in Africa in 2026."

She added: "As an Honorary IOC Member and First Vice-President of the World Baseball Softball Confederation as well as Chair of the WBSC's Diversity and Inclusivity Commission, I'm excited about having the opportunity to help grow Gambia's stature in the international sporting world by improving the sharing of knowledge and expertise, especially for the career development of our officials and athletes."

WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari congratulated his First Vice President through a letter.

"Your vast experience within the Olympic Movement will be invaluable to your country," wrote Fraccari. "As you already know, baseball and softball, and especially Baseball5 with its Youth Olympic debut coming up in 2026 in Dakar, can truly be a strong tool for sports development and social integration for Gambia, in particular for school kids and youth. I look forward to keeping our close collaboration growing for the development of our sport in your country."

The Gambia Football Federation President Lamin Kaba Bajo received 27 votes as Allen's vice president. Former GNOC Treasurer Ousman Wadda will serve as the second vice president, while Muhammad Jagana will replace him as treasurer. Yorro Nje received the majority of votes as the Secretary-General. Pa Assan Sylva, Ba Kebba Suso and Timothy Colley will complete the Board of Directors. The Gambia Football Federation President Lamin Kaba Bajo received 27 votes as Miss Allen's vice president.
