WBSC officials and staff prepare online for Tokyo 2020 Olympics

The first series of webinars is completed; new ones are to be scheduled in early July.

The preparation of WBSC officials and staff for the Tokyo Olympics has gone through the first phase of webinars.

The first session involved technical delegates and WBSC staff before three more sessions too place dedicated to softball umpires combined with technical commissioners, baseball umpires combined with technical commissioners and baseball and softball scorers.

A total of 45 technical delegates were involved.

The webinars helped to review the general aspects of the Olympic baseball-softball operations as well as Covid-19 protocols. Officials were briefed about their accreditation, arrival procedures, accommodation and transport as well as heath and safety regulations pertaining to Covid-19. Officials also went through a revision of the second version of the Olympic Playbook.

The webinars also allowed for WBSC to welcome feedback from participants regarding potential restrictions applied in the respective home countries of the officials.

Further webinars are set to be scheduled in early July, ahead of the opening of the Games. The goal is to review the final version of the Olympic Playbook. The online meetings will be scheduled following the release of the latest version.
