TAICHUNG, Taiwan — After setting new records for TV ratings in 2015 in the host nation during the opening days of the new global baseball tournament, the WBSC Premier12 set two more new highs for TV ratings over the weekend.

According to VideoLand Sports, a new ratings high of 5.24 was recorded for Saturday’s (14 Nov) Chinese Taipei versus Cuba thriller, in which Chinese Taipei defeated Cuba for the first time in a major event in 29 years.

With Chinese Taipei risking elimination from the global tournament, a higher rating of 5.27 was generated for Sunday’s electric extra-inning game that was won by a Puerto Rico grand slam in the 12th inning.

Both games over the weekend at the 20,000-seat Taichung Intercontinental Stadium were sold out.

Four of the five Opening Round games featuring the Chinese Taipei National Team were the most watched sport programs of the year in Taiwan.
