WBSC to live-stream top Dutch baseball league, season open 29 April

The eight-team league will stop from 30 May to 24 June to make room for the Dutch National Team in the WBSC Final Qualifier.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation today announced a global partnership with the Royal Netherlands Baseball and Softball Federation (KNBSB) to showcase the 2021 season of the the top Dutch baseball league (Honkbal Hoofdklasse) on the WBSC's official YouTube Channel at youtube.com/wbsc.

The streaming partnership, which includes all countries and territories outside the Netherlands, was brokered by WBSC’s in-house media company BASE. WBSC will feature one game per competition day, with games scheduled every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

Opening Day

The Dutch league is set to open on Thursday, April 29.

The regular season will stop after Sunday, 30 May, to allow the Dutch National Team to participate in the WBSC Baseball Final Qualifier to the Games of the XXXII Olympiad Tokyo 2020 in Taiwan. The Dutch league will resume on Thursday, 24 June. Each team will face each other six times during the regular season

The season will open behind closed doors.

The Amsterdam Pirates won the 2019 title and were leading 2-0 in the 2020 Holland Series against Neptunus Rotterdam when the government decided to suspend all sports activities because of a surge in COVID-19 cases.
