The two events were postponed at the beginning of April until further notice. The decision follows WBSC's postponement of the 2021 Women's Softball World Cup to 2023.

Following the postponement of the 2021 Women's Softball World Cup to 2023 and the 2021 WBSC Men's Softball World Cup to a date to be determined, the European Softball Federation (ESF) has announced a decision to postpone both the Women's and the Men's European Softball Championships to 2021. The continental championships serve as qualifiers for the respective WBSC Softball World Cups.

The Men's European Softball Championship is now scheduled to take place from 21-26 June 2021 in Ledenice, Czech Republic.

Italy, the northeastern Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, earned the hosting rights of the next Women's European Softball Championship. Dates for the top women's softball event in Europe will be confirmed at a later stage. The winner of the tournament will represent Europe in the 2022 World Games.

"I believe that this decision will also allow the National Federations enough time to play their local competitions as soon as their countries allow them to start their leagues," said Softball Europe President Gabriel Waage.

Due to coronavirus precautionary measures, the two European Championships were previously postponed at the beginning of April until further notice.
