It was their third win in the third game at the tournament, remaining undefeated before their clash with Team USA on Monday evening. Australia dropped to 1-2.

A RBI triple by Rebecca Hartley and the following RBI single by Jenna Flannigan put Canada up in front 5-3 in the sixth. Australia tried to come back in the seventh, but except for Christian Kreppold’s RBI double they couldn’t do anything. The team from Down Under had taken a 3-1 lead in the second inning, when Laura Neads and Bronwyn Gell had RBI singles and Tahnee Lovering stole home during a double steal. However an error and a RBI double by Bradi Hall tied the game in the third.

Jessica Beruba celebrated the win, going 3 2/3 innings of three-hit relief, allowing just one run. She had replaced starting pitcher Melissa Armstrong in the fourth, who had issued six hits, three runs and two walks in 3 1/3 frames. Kim McMillan was charged with the loss, allowing two runs on two hits in the sixth. Prior Melinda Latimer held the Canadian bats in check, giving up two hits, two runs and six base on balls in five innings.
